However, plans are afoot to use this site as an online repository of all historical content submitted for the newsletter.

My great grandfather Walter Thomas SMITH was one of the sons of Lydia MANTHORPE and James SMITH. Lydia and James were married in January 1838 in Gorleston Suffolk, Lydia being a daughter of William MANTHORPE & Hannah READ.

Events : Manthorp(e) Gathering May 2010

Dear fellow Manthorp(e),

I would like to propose that the next Manthorp(e) Gathering is held on the first May Bank Holiday weekend, i.e. Saturday 1st May 2010 in the little village of Thorpeness, Suffolk, England. It is situated near Saxmundham and there are many places to visit e.g. Aldeburgh, Woodbridge (including Sutton Hoo) and Ipswich.
